白部長蒞台特輯重建新台灣

民國36年3月，中央政府派遣國防部長白崇禧蒞臨台灣巡視。首先檢閱駐防部隊，然後到基隆附近的軍事要塞巡視，指示國軍部隊，要堅守紀律。接著搭乘交通船巡視基隆港，對於港埠設施，營運狀況，詳細垂詢。隨後到海軍第三基地司令部巡視，也查看國軍裝備。最後來到基隆車站，並在月台上發表談話。
遣送日俘日僑歸國

民國34年，第二次世界大戰結束，日本戰敗後，中華民國政府將在台日人分批遣送回國。離台前，在台日人於街上出售無法帶回的資產，或以物易物，選購台灣生產的物品。火車站擠滿了帶著行李的日本人，一批又一批的開往基隆。基隆碼頭，人潮洶湧，他們將在這裡搭船返回日本。
九項建設工程—興建南北高速公路（一）

政府為了配合快速的經濟發展，正積極興建南北高速公路（今中華民國國道一號，簡稱國一、中山高、一高），以加強內路長途運輸，貫連基隆、台中、高雄3個國際港口，促進對外貿易，同時對工商業原料和產品的運銷，可節省費用和時間，並可改變土地利用型態，增加國民的收入。

長潭漁村是基隆最東邊的一個地方，居民以討海維生，這裡的漁民是最勤奮的討海人，每到下午就會常看到漁船從平浪橋駛出的畫面，背景襯著東邊綿延的灣澳與基隆山、九份山城，面對這幕世界級的景觀，常令人讚嘆不已。
