On May 18, International Museum Day,
Academia Sinica’s Open Museum issues a rallying cry for “open access,”
a call answered by museums across Taiwan,

Bar – A Special Exhibition of Asian Drinking Cultures.
The National Museum of History has selected a showcase of its precious drinkware from Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. Song dynasty black-glazed teacups, Qing dynasty blue-and-white teapots, Russian tea sets, Taiwanese aboriginal double drinking cups, Anping pots, Chinese glass stem cups, Changsha kiln-fire porcelain – truly a feast for the eyes. Come partake in drinking culture across time and space.

展示中央研究院天文及天文物理研究所的天文觀測成果圖象,從行星誕生時會形成的「塵埃間隙」到由「重力透鏡效應」導演呈現「愛因斯坦環」的圖像,捕捉遙遠星空外天體運行的畫面。
Voyage Through the Sea of Stars
This exhibit displays the results of image surveys by Academia Sinica’s Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics. From the “dust cavity” arising from the formation of planets, to the “Einstein rings” created by “gravitational lensing,” these images capture the distant tableau of celestial bodies traveling through outer space.

宇宙萬象赴腕下 丹青著手生瑰奇
被視為嶺南畫派衣缽傳人的歐豪年,慣以墨彩對景寫生,透過造景的靈活手法,收納許多各地山水鳥獸。從他的作品中,一覽嶺南畫派如何融會中國水墨畫的筆法與西洋畫派色彩來描繪各種主題,花鳥、蟲獸、風景等。
Au Ho-nien and the Lingnan School of Painting
Considered an heir to the legacy of the Lingnan school of painting, Au Ho-nien customarily paints scenes from nature using ink in a nimble style, sketching the fauna and scenery of various regions. From his works, we can glimpse the Chinese ink and wash painting techniques of the Lingnan school, as well as the combination of Western coloration techniques to portray subjects such as birds, flowers, insects, beasts, and landscapes.
臺灣藤蔓植物特展
臺灣原生522種藤蔓植物中,現已收集303種,行政院農業委員會林業試驗所從中再取精華,為大家導介常用來刮痧的藤蔓、每種藤蔓勾勾纏的方式、不為人知的莖部特徵、藤本美麗的橫切面,從中體會生態與生物多樣性的意義吧。
Vine Plants of Taiwan
Among the 522 vine plants native to Taiwan, 303 have been collected. The Forestry Research Institute, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan has picked a special selection to show everyone the vines most commonly used for gua sha, how vines twine and tangle, the secrets of stems, and a beautiful cross-section of a liana. Experience the importance of ecology and biodiversity!
我是兒童 我有權利–兒童權利公約頒布30週年主題特展
為紀念兒童權利公約頒布30週年,國家人權博物館舉辦展覽揭示兒童權利如何漸次受到關注,並通過波蘭兒童權利之父柯札克之視角,闡釋兒童人權的核心精神。臺灣白色恐怖時期遭受迫害的兒少,亦是展覽一大主軸。
I am a Child, I have Rights – The 30th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child
In 1989, the United Nations ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Thirty years later, the National Human Rights Museum presents a special exhibit to educate the public about Taiwan’s history with human rights, and to understand the substance and inherent value of children’s rights.
再訪,有構厲害
本展自中研院生物多樣性研究中心鍾國芳副研究員的研究出發。鍾國芳副研究員及其團隊採集超過600 個構樹樣本,證明「南太平洋的構樹起源自臺灣」,並間接標記出南島語族(構樹栽培與使用者)的起源與遷移,有力地佐證了人類學領域著名的「出臺灣說」(Out of Taiwan)。
The Great Paper Mulberry, Revisited
This exhibit builds from the work of Chung Kuo-fang, Associate Research Fellow at Academia Sinica’s Biodiversity Research Center. Dr. Chung and his team collected over 600 paper mulberry specimens to prove that “South Pacific paper mulberry originated from Taiwan,” and in the process, indirectly marked out the origins and migration of the Austronesian language family (from the use and cultivation of paper mulberry), powerfully confirming the “Out of Taiwan” theory of anthropology.
