The Walters Art Museum
This perforated cylindrical brush holder is molded and incised in the paste with depictions of lotus leaves, buds, blossoms, and tall water reeds. Cranes are dispersed throughout the oversized foliage. The white paste body of the brush holder is covered with a white glaze. Brush holders with openwork decoration like this are attributed to the kilns at Dehua in Fujian province or the imperial kilns in Jingdezhen.
