The dish shows a riverscape scene with boats and pine trees in the foreground. The inscription reads: Through this object I present you a picture of the Xiang River. The Xiang River is a tributary of the Yangzi River in Hunan province, associated with Chinese literature and history, and borders the Jiangnan region. The scenery and inscription imitate Chinese literati paintings of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
