"早期，國內公立大專院校校長皆由政府派任。直到1990年代，學界出現大學自主、教授治校的呼聲，以促進校園民主和大學的發展。1992年底，考量時任校長梁尚勇先生任期將屆滿，校內師生率先發起聯署，要求新任校長改由民主程序遴選產生。\n\n1993年3月，臺師大校長遴選委員會正式啟動。先於各報公布校長候選人推薦啟事，再由委員會收件、審查候選人資格，最終推選出4位校長候選人。而後舉行公開座談會，邀請教職員生與候選人進行詢答。該年6月完成投開票作業，由數學系教授呂溪木先生擔任臺師大第9任校長，亦為臺師大第一位自選校長。" "1996年，臺師大文學院與相關團體先行推動四六事件調查作業，再進一步與臺大、監察院共同聘請學者與學生代表組成「四六事件研究小組」。同年4月6日，來自臺師大、臺大共7個社團的學生共同完成並公布了一份針對四六事件所做的文獻調查報告，呼籲兩校四六事件調查小組應加速腳步，並提出將事件載入兩校校史、對受難學生贈予榮譽學位作為補償、於兩校校園立碑紀念、訂4月6日為「臺灣學生日」等訴求。\n\n1997年，臺師大四六事件研究小組提出公布研究報告，考察事件起因、經過及影響，並建議將本案移交監查院調查，為受害人平反。1999年3月，臺師大舉辦四六事件資料展，並透過校園導覽重現歷史事件；同年5月，更在尤信雄代理校長的主持下，召開「四六事件紀念活動及受害學生座談會」。2001年1月，時任教育部長曾志朗代表政府正式向受難學生及家屬道歉，聲明該事件與共產黨的滲透顛覆無關，而是基於社會正義的訴求，四六事件受難者才終於得到來自官方的平反。6月8日，簡茂發校長則於該年的畢業典禮上，追贈四六事件受害者名譽學士學位證書。", "為增加教學空間，臺師大曾在1996年計畫拆除樂智樓、文薈廳及行政大樓東側建築並砍除鄰近老樹，以新建「樂智大樓」。經歷數年的討論與修改，建案爭議於2003年進入白熱化階段。就在校方完成行政流程、準備進行舊建築拆除作業之際，主張保留歷史建物和老樹的一方，在樂智樓前方廣場發起「校園空間、老樹暨歷史建築關懷團隊聯署活動」，分享關於校園文化景觀的調查結果，並向臺北市政府提出古蹟勘查鑑定。該年，臺師大文薈廳、行政大樓、普字樓及禮堂正式被指定為市定古蹟，致使樂智大樓興建計畫須暫緩。直到2005年，黃生代理校長宣布停止建案，爭議正式落幕。", 1989年7月救國團廢除學生活動中心組織章程後，臺師大原隸屬於學生活動中心之綜合委員會因本為全校各系所學會所組成，便開始轉型籌組學生會，但過程並不順利。歷經多次協調，1991年方完成第一屆學生會長選舉，由物理系林宏毅當選。其後因學生會組織章程遲未通過，於第三屆選舉後宣告停擺。 後於1995年全校學生社團會議中，決議成立「師大學生會籌備小組」，再次推動學生自治會成立。\n\n1996年，學生會籌備小組推選學生代表、教師代表及行政單位代表，共同擬定學生自治會組織章程。同年6月，「國立臺灣師範大學學生自治會」正式成立。2019年，再更名為「國立臺灣師範大學學生會」。\n  臺大學生會前身為1949年成立的各學院學生代表會聯合會（代聯會）。代聯會因享有冠絕各社團之資源和人力，逐漸成為校園內許多大型活動的籌辦者，如辦理校慶活動、社團聯展、音樂季等，並出版學生刊物。\n\n採行間接民主的代聯會，面對經常難以召集班代開會的困境，因而自1970年代起便有改為普選的聲浪，卻始終遭到校方打壓，直至1988年才成功選出首任學生會長羅文嘉，代聯會並改組為學生會。經歷其後的范雲、林奕華兩任會長，學生會三權分立的制度才得到確立。", "臺師大大門入口處自臺北高校時期設有一庭院式、圓環狀的水池。水池中央綴有假山，並持續沿用至戰後。1956年，水池中央增設平臺，曾被稱為「臺師大之泉」，且因水池中有荷花圍繞，又被稱為荷花池。1967年之後，水池中央的平臺由噴泉造景所取代。1976年進行施工改建，1977 "陳文成博士（1950-1981），1972年自臺大數學系畢業，1978年取得密西根大學統計學博士學位後，隨即擔任卡內基美隆大學統計系助理教授，學術表現相當優異。陳文成在美國求學與任教期間，關心臺灣，積極參與同鄉會和人權會，支持臺灣民主運動，因此成為情治單位的監控對象。 1981年陳文成攜妻、子返臺探親後仍遭監控，7月2日為警備總部人員帶走約談後，7月3日被發現陳屍臺大研究圖書館草地上。警備總部於記者會指陳文成為「畏罪自殺」，因其支持臺灣獨立運動，且曾資助《美麗島》雜誌。後續雖多次重啟調查，但本案迄今尚未偵破。\n
