"desc": "二十世紀初緬甸的宮廷藝術變化，主要反映在幾個面向上：一是流行的創新劇作，取代了宮廷內的佛教故事劇目（Jataka tales）；二是新生代的男伶（mintha）、女伶（minthamee）領銜主演的形式，成為仰光和曼德勒等大城市中的流行指標；三是緬甸的樂舞與戲劇受西洋文化影響。此時，外國劇團紛紛巡演至仰光，促進緬洋樂舞文化的互動，除了臨時搭建的西式劇場，更出現茶商贊助設備，並開始收取門票的商業化現象。<br><br>另一方面，封建時期的宮廷藝師分級在殖民時期仍具有影響力，低階藝師由於無法負擔昂貴的衣飾道具，僅能加入村落戲班、傀儡戲班或雜耍團；或於佛教文化慶典期間搭乘牛蓬車在各地鄉村巡演。此外，緬甸聽眾追求純粹、技巧高超的聽覺饗宴，則令純器樂的「把喇塞恩」（balar hsaing）形式也開始流行，整體呈現出緬甸戲劇與樂舞的多元發展。",

"desc": "不同於傳統宮廷舞蹈以女伶為主導，在戲劇（劇場）界，男伶才是主角。此現象的原因，在於仰光地區世俗化的新劇目，特別著重男伶的戲份與歌舞表演，導致許多劇團在徵求男伶的標準，除了好歌喉、優異的演技外，相貌好看<span>也是必要條件之一。<br><br></span>波甚（Po Sein, 1882-1954）便是20世紀初緬甸的傳奇表演藝術天王，他擔綱了無數新劇的主角，也參與緬甸傳統表演藝術的革新，例如在舞台表演中加入富異國風味穿著的女子器樂團、聘請城市中知名的阿佞藝術團，這些改革引起同行的仿效，多元化的表演也因此被稱為「波甚秀」（Po Sein Pwe），他也是首位在曼德勒售票演出的男伶。<br>",

"desc": "在1875年到1915年仰光出版的三百多件新劇作中，世俗新劇目逐漸取代了從曼德勒宮廷中流出的佛經劇目，成為劇場主流。眾多新作中最著名的橋段，是由Po Sein扮演惡棍、將愛人腹中胎兒取出，悲愴的劇情伴隨演員激昂吟唱的哭歌與逐漸增強的塞恩音樂，最終在大鼓敲打的重擊聲中結束，勾起觀眾強烈的情緒波瀾。此橋段的知名程度，甚至讓當時的印度明信片製造商D. A. Ahuja將這個詭譎的圖樣製成明信片封面，是無數戲迷趨之若鶩的收藏逸品。<br>",

"desc": "1923年來自美國的鄰里劇團（Neighborhood Playhouse）在世界巡演中停駐緬甸，除了參與當地儀式與演出外，劇團觀看了Po Sein的阿佞（yen pwe）演出，團長愛麗絲・李維森（Alice Lewisohn, 1883-1972）也拜訪了Po Sein。Lewisohn形容他身著緬服、體型並不高大，且認為Po Sein<span>並未改變原本劇目的形式與規模，而是按自身觀點植入喜劇元素、重新賦予特定素材新的意義，以喜劇方式演出傳統史詩角色。<br><br></span>除了鄰里劇團，丹尼斯蕭恩舞團（Denishawn）也曾在1925年8月至1926年11月間進行長達16個月的亞洲巡演，團員珍．雪曼（Jane Sherman, 1908-2010）曾於家書中描繪了舞團在仰光演出的光景、緬洋文化交流與對異文化的反思。<br>",
