"此種烹煮用的陶鍋俗稱「狗母鍋」或「土鍋」,類似現在砂鍋,可以直接放在火爐上滷肉及煮飯用。在太平洋戰爭期間因推行「金屬回收運動」,市面金屬嚴重短缺,狗母鍋取代了鐵鋁鍋,成為家庭必用品。\n狗母鍋的形制因其尺寸大小分為兩種,大型鍋在器口附近置有雙耳,以利雙手搬移,業者稱為「雙耳」;小型鍋不加雙耳,而另附把手,可以單手握取,業者稱為「手夯(鶯歌地區閩南語讀如chiu-gia)」。\n這種陶鍋坯土裡面添加些許砂粒,具有耐熱震性,在加熱時不容易迸裂。剛做好的陶鍋坏體粗鬆,還含有許多孔隙,使用時要先拿來煮肉,讓肉汁把縫隙塞住,使狗母鍋變得不滲不漏,用此鍋煮飯也格外可口,許多年長者十分懷念用它煮出來的食物。\n這件小型狗母鍋,沒有貼上雙耳,而接上一支手把,是為典型的手握狗母鍋。它的土質為灰褐色,蓋子呈金字塔形、把手中空、口部擴大成水盤形、頸部縮小及腹部鼓起,皆是苗栗陶師林炎珠的習慣技法,也是苗栗陶鍋的特色。(陳新上撰文)", "現在的食鹽都是精鹽,不易因濕氣而潮解。臺灣早期家用粗鹽,很容易因為吸收空氣中的水氣變成鹽汁。造成不方便使用。為保有食鹽,這件鹽罐將直壁形的器底設計為兩層,上層和一般陶罐的底部一樣,但用刀具戳三個小洞,讓潮解後的鹽汁可以透過小洞流至下方,保持上層鹽的乾燥。下層外面做的一個類似茶壺的流嘴,當下層鹽汁積滿時,可從此流嘴向外排出,這種實用而巧妙的設計使鹽保持相對乾燥。", "thumbURI":
