"title": "郭士立 Karl Friedrich August Gützlaff",
"desc": "基督教傳入亞洲的過程中，具有語言天分、行走東南亞與中國沿海的傳教士郭士立扮演了重要的角色。<br><br>他年輕時接受神學教育、加入教會，1827年開始在爪哇傳道，後脫離特定教會成為自由傳教士，陸續到過新加坡、馬來西亞半島與東南亞等地宣教、佈道。<br><br>1844年郭士立在香港成立福音宣教聖會，後改名福漢會。此會旨在訓練華人傳教士自行到中國本土傳福音，不要過度依賴西方傳教士，也減低傳教遇到的障礙，分擔日益增加的信徒數。<br><br><span>As a talented linguist who traveled throughout Southeast Asia and along China’s coast, Missionary Karl Gützlaff played an important role in the process of brining Christianity to Asia. <br></span><br><span>He joined the church and attended seminary in his youth, and began preaching the gospel in Java in 1927. Cutting his ties with established churches, he became an independent missionary and traveled to Singapore, the Malaysian Peninsula, and Southeast Asia to proselytize and evangelize.<br></span><br>In 1844, Gützlaff established the Hong Kong Evangelical Missionary Church, which was later renamed the Fuhan Society. Rather than relying on Western missionaries, the association trained Chinese missionaries to preach the gospel in China, minimizing any obstacles that might be encountered on missions; and to minister to the growing number of believers.<br>",

"desc": "1847年接受巴色差會派遣至中國華南傳教的韓山明抵達香港後展開傳教生涯。<br><br>他是第一位專對中國客家傳播福音的宣教士，抵達香港便開始學習客家話，編寫了《英客字典》（這部字典於韓山明病逝後，由黎力基接續編輯完成並出版），奠定了往後傳教士在客屬地區福音傳播的基礎。<br><br><span>Sent to South China by the Basel Missionary Society in 1987, Theodore Hamberg arrived in Hong Kong to begin his missionary career. <br></span><br>He was the first missionary who dedicated himself to spreading the gospel to the Hakka people of China, and began learning the Hakka dialect as soon as he arrived in Hong Kong. Hamberg compiled the <i>English-Hakka Dictionary</i> (which was completed by Rudolf Lechler after Hamberg’s death). He consolidated a foundation for future missionaries who spread the gospel in the Hakka areas. <br>",

"desc": "<span><b>Establishing the </b><b>Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong Kau Yan Church</b></span><span><br><br>1848年韓山明在沙頭角（位於香港北端靠近廣東深圳）設立宣教據點，義務幫窮人治病和送藥，因此當地人稱該處為「慈善醫院」。隨後韓山明創辦香港崇真會救恩堂，是巴色差會在香港的第一座教堂，如今仍屹立於香港西環。<br><br>韓山明高度關注太平天國，希望藉此能廣傳基督福音，他也曾在信中提及對太平天國的信心。他在中國華南客屬地區共服務7年，1854年因心臟病病逝異鄉，僅得年35歲，被安葬在香港跑馬地。<br><br></span><span>In 1848, Theodore Hamberg established a missionary base in Sha Tau Kok (on the northern tip of Hong Kong near Shenzhen, Guangdong), where he provided free medical care and medication to the poor. Local residents refer to the site as the \"charity hospital.\" Hamburg subsequently founded the Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong Kau Yan Church, which was the first Basel Missionary Society church in Hong Kong. The original church still stands today in the Hong Kong’s Sai Wan District.<div><br>Hamburg kept a close eye on the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom movement, hoping to spread the gospel of Christ through the movement, and mentioned his confidence in the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom in his letters. He served in the Hakka region of South China for a total of 7 years. He was only 35 years old when he succumbed to a heart attack in 1854, and died. He was buried in Happy Valley, Hong Kong<br></div></span>",

"desc": "<span>1847年郭士立安排黎力基在講潮州話為主的潮汕地區傳教，無奈在潮汕的傳教工作一直不順，於是在1852年黎力基開始改學客家話，與韓山明合作在客家地區傳道。黎氏在華傳教52年期間接續編寫了《英客辭典》、《德客辭典》，並把《馬太福音》及《路加福音》翻譯成客語。<br><br>黎力基與同工們在華南地區建立了51所傳教站和56間學校，著名的巴色義學和中國最早的大學——傳道書院（又稱李朗神學院）都有黎力基的投入。<br><br>此外，黎力基也協助客家人移民海外，尤其在太平天國動盪後，清廷追擊清算洪氏族人與客家基督徒。黎力基積極聯繫海外組織，協助客家基督徒移居異地，當中最有名的就屬北婆羅洲渣打公司的移民計劃，詳情請見<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http://openmuseum.tw/muse/exhibition/a31376471fee95e42667c42599da1594#theme-57gd1o3prl\">單元D｜計畫移民與沙巴的客家教會</a>。<br><br></span><span><span>Karl Gützlaff arranged for Rudolf Lechler to preach in the Chaoshan region where the Chaozhou dialect is spoken. However, his missionary work there did not go smoothly, so Lechler began learning the Hakka dialect instead, and joined Theodore Hamberg in preaching the gospel in the Hakka regions. Over the course of his 52 years of missionary work in China, Lechler compiled a Hakka-English dictionary and a Hakka-German dictionary, as well as translated the \"<i>Gospel of Matthew</i>\" and \"<i>Gospel of Luke</i>\" into Hakka.<br><br></span><div><span>Lechler and his cohorts established 51 missions and 56 schools in southern China. He had a hand in both the Basel Charity and China’s first university <span>Lilong: Theological Seminary of Basel Mission. <br></span></span><br>Additionally, Lechler also helped members of the Hakka community immigrate overseas, especially in the aftermath of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom turmoil when the Qing court pursued members of the Hong clan and Hakka Christians. Lechler actively contacted overseas organizations to help Hakka Christians immigrate. The most famous of these efforts was the immigration plan of the North Borneo Chartered Company.
