當原住民被禁止私釀，不僅釀酒文化受到了影響，酒更是容易取得，這導致酒的神聖性逐漸崩壞。用來進行儀式以及連結神靈的酒，開始變得稀少而珍貴，只有少數族人偷偷私釀，但大多數族人隨著時間都將此逐漸遺忘。這一時期，阿美族的釀酒傳統遭受了巨大衝擊。 現代的商業化與文化流失 進入現代社會後，隨著工業化和商業化的推進，酒逐漸被廉價、工業化生產的酒品所取代。商業化酒品的流通使得族人不再依賴自己釀造的酒來進行儀式及傳統祭儀。現代社會快速、便捷的生活方式，也讓釀酒這一傳統技藝逐漸被遺忘。 商業化酒類的崛起，讓阿美族釀酒文化失去了原有的神聖性和文化深度。酒不再是與神靈、祖靈對話的媒介，而更多地變成了一種消費品，並因此產生了許多刻板印象。許多非原住民族群將原住民與酗酒掛鉤，這些負面的刻板印象進一步影響了原住民對自身文化的認同與保存。 重拾文化的挑戰
