臺灣原住民族家屋製作同樣依循生活環境條件，方便取得之資源作為建築家屋材料。位於臺灣南部山區的排灣與魯凱兩族，其活動區域自然資源多板岩地形，傳統上即利用板岩為材料搭建石板屋做為家屋居住使用。特別是其社會階層屬貴族或頭目階層之家屋，則利用各式專屬之木雕圖紋裝飾其家屋，以彰顯此家屋家族之社會地位不凡。
In Taiwan, indigenous peoples also construct their homes in harmony with the environment, using materials easily accessible in their surroundings. The Paiwan and Rukai people, who live in the southern mountainous regions, traditionally utilize slates naturally abundant in the area to build their houses. Notably, the houses of the nobility or chiefs are distinguished by elaborate wooden carvings that represent their family’s exceptional social status.
