(臺北)龍山寺
詳細資料
[英文]The Longshan temple is located in the center of Wanhua$s 萬華 Longshan district, Taipei. Built in Qianlong 3 (1738), it is Taipei$s oldest temple. The wealthy merchant clans of Huang, Lin and Wu funded its construction. These families hailed from Jinjiang, Nanan, and Hui$an of Zhuanzhou, and this temple brought immigrants from the $Triple Cities$ together. During the Jiaqing period (1796-1820) earthquakes destroyed everything but the Buddha$s platform; it was subsequently restored. Over a seven-year period, with a large 300,000-yen expenditure, the current structure was completed in 1928. From the stone pillars to the roof, the carvings are showpieces of Taiwanese temple architecture. These days Taiwanese sculptor Huang Dushui$s 黄土水 statue of the Buddha is ensconced in the temple (Nihon chiri taikei 1930, p. 25);(Taiwan sotokufu 1932, 73);(Lai 1997, p. 214).
