[英文]Taipei Sakaemachi Street 栄町通り, currently Hengyang Road 衡陽路. Two store signs, the Matsui Silk Store 松井呉服店and the Murai Enterprises 村井商行 on the right are on Sakaemachi according to a 1935 Tourist Map of Taipei (Tsuchida 2005, p. 346). The 1930 Atlas of Imperial Japan calls Sakaemachi the @Ginza of Taiwan@ after the thriving, trendy district of Tokyo that was built during the early Meiji period. Sakaemachi stretched from Taipei Park to the Western Gate of the inner city (Nihon chiri taikei 1930, p. 18).
