[英文]The description of this photograph in Narita 1912 identifies this man as a resident of Nanshih/Nansei 南勢 dressed in headman$s clothing. The English caption mistranslates this place name as @South Formosa@ (Nanshih literally means @South Power/Force@ if one reads the characters literally). The column in back of the model in made of bricks and mortar. This may be a studio portrait, as indicated by the identification of the photographer. All the printed matter on the back, except for 郵便はかき is in English. This card was obviously printed for the foreign tourist trade.
