Suzuki emphasized the dog, writing @the dog is also a member of the family@ (1935, p. 78). The same four are also pictured in 0328. Kasahara 笠原(1999) contains three photos of the same man as photographed by Asai Erin 浅井惠倫, tentatively placing the photo in January, 1940 (pp. 119-121), and identifies him as a headman in Kunanau. This same Kunanau headman also appears to be pictured in wa0228 and wa0152. If Kasahara$s dates are correct, the same Kunanau headman depicted here was an active participant in Japanese photography from as early as 1935 to as late as January, 1940.
