所羅門群島貝珠錢(tafuliae),為中研院民族所博物館「人類學家的錢包」特展,透過郭佩宜副研究員協助,自所羅門群島購入、入藏。貝珠錢與國家貨幣並用,小串貝珠可用來交學費、教會獻金、買食物。大串貝珠用於聘禮、賠償、土地交易等重要場合。
Tafuliae, shell money from the Solomon Islands, purchased by the Museum of the Institute of Ethnology with the assistance of Associate Research Professor Pei-yi Guo, for the exhibition "Anthropologists' Money Bag". Shell money and the national currency are both in circulation. Tuition fees, contributions to the church, and food purchases can be paid using small strings of shell beads. Large strings of shell beads can be used on important occasions, such as for bridewealth, for compensation, and in land transaction.
