墨斗為日治時期時傳入蘭嶼，使用於木工或石工時拉線測量直線的工具。因使用便利，被雅美族人廣泛使用且作為具有雅美風格的八型墨斗盒。
The ink fountain was introduced to Lanyu (Orchid Island) during the Japanese Occupation, and it was used as a tool for measuring and drawing straight lines in carpentry or masonry. Due to its convenient use, it is widely used by Yami (Tao)people.
