[英文]Anthropologist Miyamoto Nobuto wrote a caption for this very photo in a 1930 pictorial atlas of Taiwan. He identified the subjects as members of the $Arisan$ ethnic group. The tell-tale leather caps with long feathers make it clear that the caption writers for this postcard producer were unfamiliar with the particulars of Taiwan$s ethnic composition. Rather, they have described these men as typically brave men who use their respites from field labor to go hunting.
