臺灣神社位於劍潭山上，由伊東忠太(1867-1954)及(1872-1938)共同設計。興建於1900(明治33)年，翌年10月落成，為臺灣唯一的「官幣大社」，祀奉大國魂命、大巳貴命、少彥名命及北白川宮能久親王。神社境內還有日俄戰爭時使用的大砲、警察官招魂碑及大正天皇即位大典的紀念神苑等設施。神社毁於1944(昭和19)年，因日本客機失事而付之一炬。光復後，於原址改建飯店，即今圓山大飯店。
[英文]Taiwan Shrine is at Jiantan Mountain, designed by Itō Chūta (1867-1954) and Goichi Takeda(1872-1938). It was constructed in 1900, finished in October, 1901 as the only Kanpei-taisha in Taiwan. It was dedicated to worship various gods. There were also artilleries used during the Russo-Japanese War, Police memorial monument, a memorial temple for Emperor Taishō enthronement, etc. The shrine was destroyed in 1944 due to the Japanese air crash. After Taiwan reclamation, Yuan Mountain hotel was built on the original site of Taiwan Shrine (NCL).
