[英文]20th ANNIVERSARY OF THE CIVIL ADMINISTRATION IN FORMOSA 甲午戰後,日本派遣北白川宮能久親王率軍領臺,於明治28年(1895)5月於澳底登陸,並於登陸地設立登陸紀念碑。至光復後將原碑廢除,改建抗日紀念碑。此碑位於今臺北縣貢寮鄉仁里村鹽寮海邊。(參考資料:臺北縣貢寮鄉公所網站,http://www.gungliau.tpc.gov.tw/) 下淡水溪即今日之高屏溪,為臺灣流域最大河川。下淡水溪鐵橋建於大正2年(1913),為屏東線鐵路的重要孔道,長達1.5公里,由24孔鋼桁花樑構成,磚砌橋墩,南北端為水泥結構。民國76年(1987)新橋落成,下淡水溪鐵橋功成身退,於民國86年(1997)指定為第二級古蹟。 English Translation: After the First Sino-Japanese War, Japan sent Prince Kitashirakawa Yoshihisa to lead the army in Taiwan. In the may of 1895, the army landed in Audi and set up the memorial monument at where they landed. It was replaced with another monument after the reclamation to commemorate the war. Now it locates at Renli village, Taipei. Shimodanshui is now the Gaoping River, the largest river in Taiwan. The Shimodanshui bridge was built in 1913, an important part of Pingdong route. It is 1.5 miles, structured by 24 steel girders and brick piers. Two ends are made of cement. In 1987, a new bridge was finished, replacing the role played by Shimodanshui bridge that was listed as Grade II historic relic in 1997 (NCL).
