Insects are a highly diverse group of animals that vary wildly in appearance. Whether it's the tiniest of fleas to the largest of beetles, and from below the water surface to high up in the air, these feats are testaments to insects' great diversity and incredible adaptability. Insects can thrive in so many different environments thanks to their unique body structures—particularly their legs. Besides basic uses like walking and climbing, insect legs also evolved into various forms with unique functions that allowed this group of animals to adapt almost every corner of the planet.
