月明清冷
Some ten years ago. I was walking alone on a small garden path in the campus at night, reciting a sonnet by Caocao, when I was suddenly enclosed by a strange solitary feeling. Treading slowly under the moon, the inspirations of writing the lyrics came into my mind.In order to follow more closely the mood of the lyrics, traditional Chinese styles of singing together with different percussion timbre are used to create an atmosphere which depicts the scenario and the inner emotion. It should be noted that in actual performaace, the percussionist is free to decide on whether an assistant is needed. Practicality should always be the major concern. In the same way, the use of spatial notation is to avoid the traditional sense of pulsation but is by no means restrictive. Performers are allowed the freedom to follow the natural flow and rhythm of the lyrics.
